明洪武十五年（1382），改曲靖路设曲靖府，驻南宁县（今麒麟区）。明洪武二十年（1387）始建曲靖府城，由于府城所处西南为廖廓山，地势较高，府城建设因势随形，具有“四门错落不对开，巧布八条丁字街，九对巷道十字路”的独特布局，南门北门错位约80米，东门西门错位约40米，四门之外建有四座瓮城（月城）和箭楼做防御之用，设有东、西、南、北四关，建有东关街、西关街、南关街、北关街，总长14824米。城内有名称的街巷不少于40条，其中西门街西起于西门月城（今寥廓南路市妇幼医院住院部大楼前），东止于土主街（以明朝建一土主庙得名，今赵樾故居东20米处）。<o:p></o:p></section><section style="text-indent: 2em;">历史上，西门街曾是曲靖府城的主要街巷之一。围绕西门街衍射出土主街（以明朝建一土主庙得名）、打油巷（以原打油为业者居多而得名）、新道巷（清末新建街道，故名）、分司巷（以明朝布政司设此得名）、糖行巷（以原为一糖市场得名）等大街小巷。除土主街外，其他巷道均呈南北向与西门街垂直相交，形成“丁”字形街道特征。历史上西门街街心地面为黄砂石板长条石联铺砌，两侧铺有河卵石路面，街道两旁的民居多为一楼一底重檐硬山顶穿斗式联排土木结构建筑，部分呈吊角楼，也有置猫拱墙（封火墙）。目前保存较为完整的代表性传统建筑有土主寺、陈家大院、杨家大院、赵樾故居等，多为四合院建筑，述说着当时的繁华。现在，西门街位于曲靖市中心城区核心地带，历经数百年风雨，已成为曲靖城市中的“活化石”，也是曲靖城市中最古老的街道。行走在这里，历史与现实、过去与未来、城市与乡村、时尚与市井完美地结合在一起。街道两旁建筑内部、建筑群体之间清晰地体现出传统的空间布局，成为该区域的亮点，百年老宅西门街32号赵樾故居，也成为延续历史片段、保留文化记忆的地方。</section><section
